    • the APGA Engineers’ Practise Guide (EPG)

  • 90 min session

Australian Standard for Onshore Gas Transmission and Distribution Pipelines (AS 2885) is a set of technical standards for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of onshore gas transmission and distribution pipelines in Australia.

The standard is developed and maintained by the Australian Pipeline Standards Committee (APGA) and is widely recognized as the benchmark for the industry in Australia.

The standard is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that it reflects the latest industry practices and technologies. Compliance with AS 2885 is mandatory for all onshore gas transmission and distribution pipelines in Australia.

  • 90 min session

This session covers a range of topics including:

    • Design (material selection, pipe thickness, and joint design)

    • Construction (trenching, backfilling, and testing)

    • Operation and maintenance ( pressure testing, corrosion control, and integrity management)

    • Emergency management (emergency response planning, incident management, and emergency shut-off valves)

    • Quality management systems

    • Compliance with relevant laws and regulations

    • Safety Standards( compliance with safety standards set by the APGA and the AS 2885).

  • 90 minute session covering:

    • Design guidelines: An in-depth look at the design guidelines outlined in the standard, including factors such as material selection, pipe thickness, and joint design, and how they ensure the safe and reliable operation of pipelines.

    • Construction guidelines: An overview of the construction guidelines outlined in the standard, including factors such as trenching, backfilling, and testing, and how they ensure the safe and efficient construction of pipelines.

  • More aware of how to navigate the requirements of AS2885

  • Increased familiarity with PECS

  • Knowledge of how best utilise the EPG in crisis and non-crisis situations

“Good value and engaging content”
GIS Specialist

“Covers AS2885 at a high level, but it was more valuable that expected, to know what ‘could’ be known about pipelines”
Engineering Manager

“Helps me know a little bit about a lot of AS2885 things”
 Graduate Engineer

“Good overview of AS2885, showing how it all fits together”
Non-pipeline engineer working in pipeline operations

“Really informative, even though I don’t work in the AS2885 space specifically”
